you really felt like you were the only person on that station merely observing the effects of the carnage around you. the journal way of story telling has been done a lot of times, but i sincerely think system shock did it the best. without a guide i could not see myself beating this game especially the reactor overload part and abe's head (i was looking 30 minutes for it because i dumped it somewhere in the corner of the level.) despite this i had a great time playing this game, shodan was an amazing antagonist who watched your every step, the levels were huge and although at times painfully confusing offered a lot to see and experience. by all means this game has not aged well, it offers next to none hand-holding and you have to make sense of the notes left by the dead researchers to figure out your next objective. i was pleasantly surprised by the amount of depth this game had to offer and gameplay variety. I went into this game pretty much blind not expecting much from what looked like a typical boomer shooter.
